Vampire Diaries Episodes

**Warning** The following contains spoilers from episodes 9 and 10 of The Vampire Diaries.

Here is a question for all of you, do you think that Alaric Saltzman is a vampire? In episode 9, Mystic Falls gets a new history teacher, Alaric Saltzman (played by the handsome Matt Davis). Since his appearance, there have been several hints that he could be a vampire. The fist hint, at least in my mind, is his name. It is an old fashioned name that he said was an old family name. But could it be that he has just had the same name for over a hundred years? Alaric also wears a ring that looks very similar to Damon’s and Stefan’s Lapis Lazuli rings that allow them to go into sunlight. Later, he asks Jenna (played by Sara Canning) if he could come in and he stays outside when she says that he shouldn’t.
There were also a few hints in episode 10. Logan (played by Chris Johnson) was turned by someone, but he won’t say who turned him. So there must be another vampire in town. It was never revealed who turned him because he was killed by Alaric. So it could be that Alaric killed Logan to keep his secret.
In the novels written by L.J. Smith, Alaric is not a vampire. Instead he is a Vampire Slayer. So what do you think. Do you think that Alaric is a vampire slayer and all of these possible hints could just be a way to keep the viewers guessing? Or do you think that Alaric is a vampire? It can go either way because the show doesn’t follow the books too closely. The show just takes the general idea from the book, not the plot and exact character. We will just have to wait and find out in January what which direction the show will go in.
